Yostmark Recreational Level 1

Gain a fundamental understanding of avalanche formation and triggering by examining snowpack, weather, terrain, and human factors. Learn rescue skills necessary for venturing into avalanche terrain. This is the primary avalanche instruction for anyone venturing out into the backcountry.

All Rec Level 1 participants are required to have prior experience using climbing skins to travel up hill and, be comfortable skiing intermediate (blue square) off-piste terrain.
