Motorized Avalanche Level 1

This reduced price motorized course is sponsored by the Bridger Teton Avalanche Center Foundation and Wyoming State Trails.

Who? For recreational riders, pros, guides, and search and rescue teams.

Class content: American Avalanche Association(A3) Certified Class which exceeds A3
guidelines. Taught by AAA pro member, certified course provider/instructor, Mike Duffy.

Covers: Equipment, reading forecasts, morning plan, group dynamics, communication,
different types of avalanche problems, stability tests and analysis, transceiver use, shoveling
and probing skills, rescue, rescue leadership, avalanche terrain recognition, terrain traps, route
finding, islands of safety, backcountry guidelines, avalanche observations, contributing factors,
using snowmobiles in rescue and much more. This is a hands-on class, you learn more by doing.

Riding Ability: Don’t worry about your riding skills. The class is fun and we work as a team to
get to the learning areas using groomed trails, single track and easy riding. If the entire group
is more accomplished riders, we’ll ramp it up. Snowmobiles and snowbikes are used to gain
access to areas where we park and then teach.

The riding in class:  We are using groomed trails, Jeep roads and single track to access terrain in
class. Have your machines in excellent working order, fueled
